Health and Safety Manager - Operations NZ

About the role

Peninsula, a global advisory brand in HR, employment relations and health and safety backed by a large privately owned business services group, is expanding its H&S leadership team in New Zealand. This permanent full-time Health and Safety Manager leads and develops a team of consultants and advisors, working with the Head of Health & Safety NZ.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Health & Safety Consultants and Advisors, providing coaching, mentoring and day-to-day operational support.
• Manage workloads, KPIs, service standards and assessment completion timeframes to drive performance.
• Review and quality assure client assessments, reports, action plans and risk management documentation.
• Partner with the Head of Health & Safety NZ on workforce planning, team development and continuous improvement.
• Travel across New Zealand when needed to attend client meetings, support service delivery and strengthen stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Health & Safety leadership or management role.
• A recognised Health & Safety qualification and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong commercial awareness, balancing client needs, compliance and business objectives.
• Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of New Zealand Health & Safety legislation and best practice frameworks.
