About the role

Long Bay College is seeking a passionate Health and Physical Education teacher on a fixed‑term contract from Week 3 Term 3 until the end of the 2026 school year. You will join a high‑performing faculty that aims to be among the best in the country, contributing to a culture of research‑informed practice and student achievement.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess Health and Physical Education curriculum for secondary students.
• Maintain high standards of NCEA endorsement, University Entrance rates and NZQA Scholarship outcomes.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop evidence‑based teaching strategies aligned with the Tino Akoranga philosophy.
• Participate in professional learning communities, reflective practice and faculty initiatives.
• Support student wellbeing and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Qualified, trained and registered teacher in New Zealand.
• Strong curriculum knowledge in Health and Physical Education.
• Demonstrated passion for student achievement and evidence‑based practice.
• Positive classroom presence and commitment to high‑quality explicit teaching.
• Willingness to engage with both experienced and beginning teachers.
