Head Teacher (Kaiwhakaako) – Hinemoa Kindergarten

About the role

Central Kids is seeking a passionate Kaiwhakaako (Head Teacher) to lead the Hinemoa early childhood centre in Taupō. You will guide a dedicated team, nurture children’s development, and uphold the centre’s values of aroha, mana, tiaki and manaaki.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and day‑to‑day management of the Hinemoa centre.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment aligned with Te Whāriki.
• Build strong relationships with tamariki, whānau, staff, and community partners.
• Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Entitled to work in New Zealand.
• Level 7 teaching qualification specialising in Early Childhood Education.
• Current practising teaching certificate.
• Valid first‑aid certification (Level 1 or higher).
