Head of Viticulture

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Viticulture to lead our New Zealand vineyard teams, based in Blenheim. Reporting to the Group Operations Manager – Viticulture and Winemaking, you will drive scientifically‑led practices across 3,200 ha of cool‑climate vineyards in Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop Vineyard Managers and Viticulturalists, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
• Plan and oversee all vineyard operations to optimise yield and quality while pursuing continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
• Review and manage the Viticulture Division’s plant, equipment requirements and operating budgets.
• Champion a high‑performance workplace and embed a strong health‑and‑safety culture across the teams.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in viticulture.
• Proven experience managing large‑scale viticulture operations with strong commercial acumen.
• Demonstrated success in high‑performance, results‑driven environments.
• Collaborative, growth‑focused leadership style with excellent people‑management abilities.
• Current knowledge of New Zealand WHS legislation and requirements.
• Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.

Required skills

• Knowledge of viticultural best practices for cool‑climate vineyards.
• Experience with vineyard budgeting and equipment planning.
• Understanding of health‑and‑safety compliance in New Zealand.
