Head of Security

About the role

KPMG New Zealand is seeking a Head of Security to lead its cyber security strategy and protect the firm’s information, technology and digital assets. This senior position reports to the National Information Technology Security Officer (NITSO) and influences security decisions across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a comprehensive cyber security strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee security operations, threat monitoring, vulnerability management and incident response.
• Provide governance, oversight and assurance for the information security programme.
• Embed security‑by‑design principles into technology platforms, business processes and third‑party services.
• Deliver expert security advice, reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Build, inspire and manage a high‑performing cyber security team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in IT security management.
• Proven leadership ability with a proactive, "can‑do" attitude.
• Relevant tertiary qualification; CISSP and CISM certifications are preferred.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to influence strategic decisions.
