Head of Global Business Development

About the role

Airways International Ltd (AIL) is seeking a senior commercial leader to head its Global Business Development function from its Christchurch campus. Reporting to the General Manager Commercial, you will drive revenue growth, margin performance and long‑term customer value across AIL’s aviation training, simulation and consultancy portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and enable a high‑performing commercial team, aligning structure and processes with business needs.
• Own the full commercial lifecycle – strategy, business development, contracts, pricing, delivery performance and value realisation.
• Convert commercial opportunities into contracts and ensure successful delivery to meet financial and strategic targets.
• Identify and prioritise global growth opportunities across services, products and partnerships.
• Manage revenue, margin, cash outcomes and the function’s budget.
• Lead negotiation, approval and execution of major contracts.
• Establish consistent processes, tools and frameworks and leverage internal resources for continued commercial success.

Required profile

• Proven commercial leadership experience in a complex, regulated environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to build capability, establish processes and drive performance improvement while ensuring compliance.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in business or equivalent.
