Head of Finance Strategy Execution (12‑month contract)

About the role

Lead the transformation of Finance for one of New Zealand and Australia’s most ambitious banking groups. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will drive the delivery of the Group’s finance strategy across both countries during a pivotal growth phase.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the Group Finance transformation portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
• Partner with the CFO and Finance Leadership Team to shape, refine and execute the finance strategy and transformation roadmap.
• Translate strategic priorities into clear, actionable programmes with measurable outcomes.
• Provide end‑to‑end oversight of multiple concurrent transformation initiatives, ensuring proper governance, resourcing and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate Finance participation in enterprise‑wide initiatives, establishing clear ownership and accountability.
• Establish robust governance, reporting and performance frameworks, monitoring programme risks, dependencies and delivery outcomes.
• Support adherence to key regulatory and control requirements, including RBNZ, APRA and BS11 frameworks.
• Lead initiatives that modernise finance processes, treasury, data analytics and procurement.

Required profile

• Commercially minded senior finance leader with extensive experience in strategy, transformation and governance.
• Proven ability to operate at the intersection of strategy, execution and regulatory oversight.
• Strong partnership skills with executive leaders and experience delivering large‑scale change programmes in banking or financial services.
• Track record of influencing finance direction across multiple jurisdictions.
