About the role
Rocket Lab is seeking a Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HITL) Engineer II to design, maintain, and operate HITL test systems that support the production, Electron, and Neutron launch vehicle programs. Based in Auckland, you will work closely with avionics, launch operations, and engineering teams to ensure reliable testing and launch readiness.
Key responsibilities
- Design, operate, and maintain avionic test and simulation platforms for launch vehicle missions.
- Document HITL system architecture, schematics, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Capture and analyze test data using DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
- Perform root‑cause analysis on anomalies and communicate findings to internal teams and vendors.
- Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects while driving standardisation and automation of HITL processes.
- Provide technical mentorship and training to junior HITL team members.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience working with hardware‑in‑the‑loop or avionics test environments.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to produce clear technical documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative aerospace setting.
