Group Legal Counsel

About the role

Re-Leased is looking for a senior Group Legal Counsel to own all legal matters across its global operations. This is a standalone role that will leverage AI‑augmented legal tools to build a lean, high‑impact legal function.

Key responsibilities

• Own commercial contracting and negotiation, including MSAs, partner agreements, channel deals, enterprise contracts, vendor agreements and NDAs.
• Maintain contract compliance, manage disputes and respond to breaches across the customer base.
• Develop and maintain group templates, playbooks and self‑serve legal resources, using AI tools for drafting, research, summarisation and first‑pass contract review.
• Manage external counsel relationships in NZ, UK, US, Canada and Australia and ensure corporate compliance, regulatory filings and governance documentation for all subsidiaries.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and operational risks, oversee insurance matters and regional compliance, and manage litigation risk, especially in the USA.
• Oversee office lease arrangements in line with global property strategies.
• Partner with the CFO and executive team on strategic legal matters and provide proactive advice to the Board.

Required profile

• 5+ years post‑qualification experience, preferably from a top‑tier NZ firm.
• International experience is a plus.
• Strong background in commercial and technology sectors, with SaaS exposure preferred.
• Comfortable making commercial decisions as well as legal ones.
• Active user of AI tools in legal practice and able to discuss their use in detail.
• Collaborative mindset, engaging directly with business units.
