Group Accountant

About the role

Serko is looking for a Group Accountant to take ownership of day‑to‑day financial control functions across its global operations. This fixed‑term maternity cover role will report to the Group Financial Controller and will oversee the work of financial accountants while driving process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and review daily financial activities and month‑end accounts for NZ, Australia, India, the US and China.
• Consolidate group accounts and produce monthly management reports with commentary on budget variances.
• Collaborate with the FP&A team to analyse results and provide insights.
• Review and approve payments across the group and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
• Control and maintain accounting reporting systems and ensure efficient operation.
• Review work of Financial and Assistant Accountants, providing feedback and training.
• Prepare interim and annual reports in accordance with NZ IFRS.
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Prepare grant applications with NZ RDTI and support process design improvements.
• Act as the number‑two to the Group Financial Controller, helping refine accounting policies and standing in for the Controller as needed.

Required profile

• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets proficiency.
• Strong knowledge of NZ IFRS.
• Experience managing or reviewing month‑end work and reconciliations.
• Proven record of preparing monthly finance reports with commentary.
• High attention to detail and diligence.
