General Manager – Transport

About the role

The General Manager – Transport is a senior leadership position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. You will shape the transport strategy and oversee daily operations for Fliway, Supply Chain Solutions and their subsidiaries across New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement transport division objectives aligned with the Group’s vision.
• Identify growth, innovation and competitive opportunities in the logistics sector.
• Oversee fleet management, logistics coordination and route optimisation.
• Monitor and improve KPIs such as delivery timelines, fuel efficiency and cost management.
• Champion a safety‑first culture and ensure compliance with NZ transport, safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage budgets, achieve monthly profitability targets and drive cost efficiencies.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance and Operations to align strategies and resources.
• Maintain relationships with regulators, vendors and clients.
• Establish internal KPIs for continual improvement, service delivery and wellbeing.
• Lead branch design and planning together with the Commercial Manager.
• Stay current with technological advances in transport and recommend upgrades.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in transport or logistics.
• Strong track record of building engaged, high‑performing teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and deliver profitability.
• Excellent knowledge of New Zealand transport, safety and environmental regulations.
• Strategic thinker with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
• Effective communicator with internal and external stakeholders.
