General Manager - Security & Digital Performance

About the role

This senior leadership position reports to the Chief Digital Officer and is responsible for shaping security and digital performance across the Bioeconomy Science Institute. You will lead cybersecurity, protective security and drive disciplined digital investment, architecture and portfolio performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the organisation’s cybersecurity and protective security strategy, policy and assurance.
• Make security risks visible, manage them and report to the CDO, executive leadership and the Board.
• Strengthen digital investment, portfolio governance and performance insight for better decision‑making.
• Oversee enterprise architecture and design governance to ensure cohesive, sustainable systems aligned with strategy.
• Manage incident response readiness and provide executive‑level support during major events.
• Build strong relationships across digital, science and corporate teams to lift capability and outcomes.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing team focused on clarity, accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Senior leader comfortable at the intersection of security, risk and digital portfolio management.
• Experience in complex environments providing oversight and challenge while enabling delivery.
• Proven senior leadership experience in cybersecurity, digital governance or enterprise risk.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks, risk management and assurance practices.
• Background working in or alongside second‑line or governance functions.
• Ability to support investment, portfolio or performance decision‑making at an executive level.
