General Manager - Performance & Delivery

About the role

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a General Manager – Delivery and Performance to lead Te Au Reka, a transformative programme modernising New Zealand courts and tribunals. Based in Wellington, you will steer a high‑visibility, complex initiative that shifts the justice system to digitally enabled practices.

Key responsibilities

• Drive integrated programme delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring strategic alignment and long‑term benefits.
• Build trusted relationships with the Ministry, judiciary, sector agencies, suppliers and internal teams.
• Create conditions for high performance through strong programme disciplines, transparent reporting and sound risk management.
• Provide authoritative advice to senior leaders, governance bodies and ministers on delivery performance and risk.
• Represent the Deputy Secretary in key governance forums and influence critical decisions.
• Ensure services remain user‑focused, improving access to justice and user experience.

Required profile

• Proven leadership in large‑scale transformation or business‑critical programmes.
• Experience building trusted relationships and influencing at executive and board level.
• Ability to bring clarity and momentum to complex delivery environments.
• Track record of leading high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk and performance frameworks.
