General Manager Delivery and Performance

About the role

This role will lead the delivery and performance of Te Au Reka, a transformative programme modernising New Zealand’s courts and tribunals. Based in Wellington, the General Manager will ensure the initiative is orchestrated, aligned and accountable, delivering lasting improvements to access to justice.

Key responsibilities

• Drive integrated delivery across multiple workstreams, maintaining strategic alignment and momentum.
• Build trusted relationships with the Ministry, judiciary, sector agencies, suppliers and internal teams.
• Establish high‑performance programme disciplines, transparent reporting and robust risk management.
• Provide authoritative advice to senior leaders, governance bodies and ministers on performance, risks and optimisation options.
• Represent the Deputy Secretary in key governance forums and influence critical programme decisions.
• Ensure services remain user‑focused, improving access to justice and overall user experience.

Required profile

• Proven leadership in large‑scale transformation or business‑critical programmes with high visibility.
• Experience influencing executive and board‑level stakeholders across organisations.
• Ability to bring clarity and momentum to complex delivery environments.
• Track record of leading high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk and compliance in public‑sector contexts.
