General Manager – Data & AI

About the role

The General Manager – Data & AI is a senior leadership position within ANZ New Zealand Technology. Reporting to the CIO New Zealand & Pacific, the role drives the implementation of ANZ’s enterprise Data & AI strategy across New Zealand, ensuring data and AI capabilities are used responsibly to create business value while meeting regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the translation of the enterprise Data & AI strategy into practical outcomes for New Zealand.
• Establish and embed robust data governance, ownership and operating models to improve data quality and accountability.
• Shape ANZ’s approach to AI, promoting responsible adoption of advanced analytics while balancing innovation with risk and compliance.
• Provide leadership across data platforms, operating models and enterprise‑wide initiatives that support strategic priorities.
• Partner with the Group Chief Data & Analytics Officer, CIO NZ & Pacific and business leaders to embed data‑driven decision‑making.
• Strengthen data risk management, regulatory compliance and data‑risk frameworks.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in data governance, AI adoption and regulatory compliance.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate enterprise strategy into local execution.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior business leaders.
• Deep understanding of data risk, ownership and operating model design.
• Experience in the financial services sector is highly desirable.
