General Hand – Concreting

About the role

Join Downer’s Transport and Infrastructure business as a General Hand, working on concrete construction and repairs across Whanganui and the wider region. You will be part of a dedicated crew delivering maintenance, civil, and construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Set up safe work sites for crew and the public.
• Assist with framework installation and preparation before concrete pours.
• Pour, finish, strip, and reinstate concrete placements.
• Collaborate with the team to meet project deadlines and optimise resources.
• Manage materials, supplies, and equipment efficiently.

Required profile

• Experience in the civil contracting industry with a strong eye for concrete finishing.
• Familiarity with concrete formwork and exposed concrete work.
• Team‑player attitude, organised and good‑humoured.
• Reliable, dependable and flexible regarding availability and location.

Required skills

• Full Class 1 Driver Licence.
• Class 2, 3 or 4 Driver Licences and WTR endorsements (preferred).
• Ability to operate a variety of civil machinery.
