Freelance Comic Illustrator (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a talented comic book illustrator to bring a short horror series set in Northampton, England to life. The project is fully remote and focuses on occult and magick themes, with a distinctive black‑and‑white style highlighted by blood as the sole colour accent.

Key responsibilities

• Illustrate sequential comic pages in black and white, using blood as the only colour accent.
• Interpret detailed scripts, character designs, and page layouts provided in a guidebook.
• Collaborate closely with the creative team to ensure tone and style match the occult‑horror vision.
• Incorporate feedback and refine artwork as needed.
• Deliver high‑resolution, print‑ready digital files for each completed page.
• Provide proof that all artwork is original and not AI‑generated.

Required profile

• Proven experience illustrating comics or graphic novels, preferably in horror or supernatural genres.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating realistic, expressive black‑and‑white artwork.
• Ability to depict dark, atmospheric scenes and convey emotion through character and environment.
• Familiarity with visual styles of Hellblazer, Swamp Thing, or similar works.
• Comfort with mature themes, including non‑explicit violence and sexual content.
• Excellent communication skills and openness to creative collaboration.
• Availability for ongoing collaboration and timely delivery of pages.
