Forward Deployed Engineer, Frontier Engineering

About the role

Snowflake is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer on its Frontier Engineering team, a hands-on builder and technical partner to its most strategic customers. You will build production-grade AI systems using Snowpark, Cortex and Snowflake's native LLM capabilities, solving real-world business problems at scale. The role is remote, based in New Zealand, with at least 25% of the time spent onsite with customers.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, build and deploy enterprise-grade AI solutions, including AI agents, and own them from prototype to production
• Define quality metrics, evaluation frameworks and golden datasets, and run systematic eval loops to improve accuracy, faithfulness and safety
• Ship high-quality code and pipelines quickly, translating business objectives into scalable solutions in Python and SQL
• Own the full implementation lifecycle, including monitoring, optimization and safety guardrails in large-scale production environments
• Partner with customer data science and engineering teams as a hands-on technical resource
• Work with Product and Engineering teams to share field feedback and shape the AI platform

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proven experience building applications with LLMs, especially RAG and agentic workflows
• Experience defining quality metrics and running evaluations for LLM or agent systems
• Willingness to travel, spending at least 25% of the time onsite with customers

Preferred qualifications

• Building eval sets from production traces and synthetic data, and running A/B tests, ablations and offline evals
• Familiarity with eval and observability tooling such as Braintrust, LangSmith, Arize, Weave or Promptfoo
• Failure-mode analysis on agent or RAG systems
• MLOps experience (model deployment, monitoring, evaluation) on AWS, Azure or GCP
• Familiarity with pandas, numpy and Snowpark
• Customer-facing technical role experience or startup experience
