Foreperson – Civil & Concrete Construction

About the role
The Civil‑Concrete team at Higgins Wellington is expanding and seeks an experienced Foreperson to lead crews on site. You will coordinate daily civil and concrete works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to high quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and deliver daily civil and concrete construction activities for your crew.
- Develop short‑term work plans and sequence tasks to meet programme requirements.
- Manage labour, plant and materials to maintain productivity and workflow.
- Lead, supervise and support operators and labourers, providing coaching and clear direction.
- Drive a strong health, safety and environmental culture through visible leadership, pre‑starts and toolbox talks.
- Monitor quality, ensuring works meet drawings, specifications and ITPs.
- Identify risks, resolve site issues and escalate when necessary.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and key stakeholders on site.
- Ensure plant and equipment are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Maintain accurate site documentation and QA records.
Required profile
- Proven experience in civil construction, supervising crews and site activities.
- Strong knowledge of civil and concrete works, including earthworks, drainage, pavements and finishing.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent planning, organisation and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and quality outcomes.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Class 1 licence (minimum); WTR endorsements preferred.
- Site Safe Passport and First Aid certification required.
- STMS / TTM or relevant civil qualifications desirable.
