Flight Analysis Engineer – Electron Operations

About the role

Rocket Lab is seeking a Flight Analysis Engineer to support the Electron launch vehicle and, as needed, the upcoming Neutron system. The role focuses on mission analysis, flight‑safety assessments, and on‑orbit operations, working closely with internal teams and external agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and run flight‑safety analysis tools for Electron, including trajectory evaluation, debris and re‑entry modeling, and risk assessment.
• Process large data sets and build statistical models to quantify failure probabilities and improve analysis efficiency.
• Support launch operations by generating risk data, creating operator interfaces (GUIs/HMIs), and providing on‑console assistance during launch campaigns.
• Verify launch range systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive flight‑safety documentation, data packages, licensing materials, and standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with experience in aerospace or launch‑vehicle environments.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines and with external agencies.
• Excellent written communication skills for technical reports and documentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python (Python 3+).
• Proficiency in C++.
• Experience with 6‑DoF and 3‑DoF simulation tools.
• Knowledge of trajectory analysis, debris modeling, and re‑entry dynamics.
