Financial Accountant

About the role

GHD is looking for a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join its Centre of Excellence Controllership team. The role supports the New Zealand Pacific business across New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea, delivering accurate financial reporting, statutory accounting, tax compliance and cash‑flow management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries and support the month‑end close for the NZ Pacific business.
• Maintain the general ledger, perform reconciliations and produce working papers.
• Manage statutory accounting, local financial statements, group reporting packages and audit‑related activities.
• Forecast cash‑flow, process ad‑hoc bank payments and handle payroll‑related journals and provisions.
• Collaborate with the tax team on New Zealand tax compliance matters.
• Provide timely financial information to finance and business stakeholders to aid decision‑making.
• Contribute to process improvements, standardisation and implementation of global finance policies.
• Ensure strong documentation, control discipline, professional ethics and confidentiality.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of general and statutory accounting principles.
• Familiarity with New Zealand tax obligations and local compliance requirements.
• Experience working with finance and operational stakeholders in a professional services environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
