Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will support the year‑end financial reporting process, ensuring that financial information is accurate, timely and compliant. You will work across a range of accounting areas, including fixed assets, taxation and reconciliations, while also contributing to audit support and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Prepare balance‑sheet notes and assist in the preparation of financial statements.
• Provide technical accounting advice to internal stakeholders.
• Support audit requirements and liaise with external auditors.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes related to assets, tax and reconciliations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial accounting within a complex environment, preferably central government.
• Strong year‑end reporting experience, including preparation of financial statements and audit support.
• Experience with large ERP systems and familiarity with CFIS.
• Solid understanding of asset accounting, reconciliations and taxation (GST, FBT).
