Financial Accountant (Contract) – Senior Level

About the role

This contract position joins a fast‑growing New Zealand technology business. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant will own key reporting and control activities while providing analysis and insights to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly financial reports with analysis of business drivers and performance trends.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow planning processes.
• Consolidate reporting across multiple entities and assist with statutory reporting.
• Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to deliver financial insights and challenge assumptions.
• Develop financial models and scenario analyses for investment and growth initiatives.
• Assist with audit processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and improve data quality.
• Contribute to month‑end and year‑end close activities and support ad‑hoc strategic projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role in a medium‑to‑large organisation.
• Experience working with a group of companies, preferably with import and distribution exposure.
• Strong month‑end reporting and technical accounting expertise.
• Familiarity with multi‑entity, multi‑divisional environments and foreign currency accounting.
