Finance Shared Services Team Leader

About the role

The Finance Shared Services Team Leader will lead a team of Finance Administrators to deliver an outstanding customer experience across the University. You will create a trusted, valued, and empowered environment where staff can perform at their best.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Finance Administrators, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Faculty and Finance leaders to ensure responsive, customer‑focused financial services.
• Oversee key financial administration functions, guaranteeing accuracy, consistency and compliance with University policies.
• Guide the team through change, encourage innovation and develop more efficient ways of working.
• Remove barriers, celebrate achievements and act as an approachable advocate for the team.

Required profile

• People‑first leader with a proven track record of building high‑performing, inclusive teams.
• 7‑8 years of experience in a financial accounts role within a large organisation.
• At least 5 years of experience leading and developing staff responsible for financial transactions.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with a wide range of internal stakeholders.
• Ability to navigate difficult conversations with empathy while maintaining a strong customer focus.

Required skills

• Experience using and administering large enterprise financial systems.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing and accounts payable processes.
• Experience supporting budgeting and financial reporting activities.
