Field Asset Management Technician

About the role

The Field Asset Management Technician ensures the reliability of Meridian's electric vehicle (EV) charging network across the South Island. Working half of the time in the field and half from the Christchurch office, you will support a critical piece of national infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain EV charging stations throughout the South Island.
• Perform preventative maintenance to improve reliability and minimise downtime.
• Travel regularly, including overnight and multi‑day service runs.
• Monitor charger performance via CPMS, conduct remote troubleshooting and coordinate field responses.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to the refinement of maintenance strategies.
• Provide after‑hours on‑call support and act as a senior resource for complex faults.
• Adhere to all health, safety and compliance standards.

Required profile

• Registered Electrician in New Zealand (Electrical Inspector registration is an advantage).
• Strong hands‑on electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic experience.
• Experience with distributed assets or infrastructure, preferably EV charging.
• Familiarity with CPMS platforms or similar asset‑monitoring tools.
• Ability to interpret performance data to identify trends and issues.
• Self‑sufficient, persistent problem‑solver who works well independently.
