Family Store Assistant

About the role

The Family Store Assistant provides an excellent experience for customers and donors in a fast‑paced charitable retail environment. You will work on the shop floor greeting shoppers, processing donations, and ensuring the store is well presented.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service to shoppers and donors.
• Receive, sort, price, and merchandise donated goods.
• Process sales, handle cash, and perform end‑of‑day cash‑up accurately.
• Maintain a tidy, well‑stocked store environment.
• Follow health, safety, audit, and operational policies.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and assist with general store duties.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to de‑escalate situations.
• Resilient, positive, and able to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Physically fit for regular lifting.
• Self‑managed, able to prioritise under pressure.
• Clear verbal and written communication.
• Right to work in New Zealand and able to pass a police check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with point‑of‑sale (POS) software.
• Comfort using tablet devices for retail operations.
