About the role
The Recreation Centre – Facility Operations Team Leader will lead the day‑to‑day delivery of sport and recreation services at Hiwa, the University of Auckland’s state‑of‑the‑art health and wellbeing hub. Reporting to senior sport and recreation management, you will ensure high‑quality experiences for members, visitors and event participants.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership and development for a team of four direct reports, setting expectations, coaching and fostering an inclusive culture.
- Oversee facility operations including maintenance, health and safety compliance, asset management and scheduling of spaces and events.
- Act as the primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders, resolving escalated issues and maintaining excellent customer service.
- Track, analyse and report on key performance indicators and financial metrics to optimise resource use.
- Support flexible operational needs, including evenings and weekends for events and maintenance.
Required profile
- Passion for sport, recreation and delivering outstanding customer experiences.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and legislative compliance.
- Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate a small team.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Required skills
What we offer
- Full‑time permanent position (37.5 hrs/week) with a competitive salary range of $80,000–$90,000 NZD per year.
