External Audit Manager – Assurance

About the role

PwC New Zealand is seeking an experienced external auditor to join its Financial Assurance team in Wellington at Manager level. You will work from our central office, leading audit engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients across financial services, manufacturing, retail, property, and more.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end audit engagements for clients in multiple industries.
• Supervise and coach junior staff on audit methodology and best practices.
• Deliver high‑quality audits of financial statements to build public trust.
• Collaborate directly with clients to understand needs, test internal controls, and verify financial information.
• Utilise cutting‑edge technology to enhance audit efficiency and quality.

Required profile

• 5+ years of external audit experience at a large global firm.
• Experience with financial services, banking, asset‑wealth‑management, or mining clients.
• Member of a recognised accounting body (CAANZ, CPA, ACCA, ICAEW, etc.).
• Proven track record of leading audit engagements from planning to completion.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
