External Audit Manager – Assurance (Christchurch)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced external auditor to join our Financial Assurance team in Christchurch. This full‑time manager position involves leading audit engagements for a diverse client base across financial services, manufacturing, retail, property, professional services and banking.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end audit engagements, from planning through to completion, for clients in multiple industries.
• Supervise, coach and develop junior staff on audit methodology and best practices.
• Deliver high‑quality audits that build public trust in our clients’ financial statements.
• Work directly with clients to understand their needs, test internal controls, verify compliance and substantiate financial information.
• Utilise cutting‑edge technology and data‑analytics tools to enhance audit efficiency and quality.

Required profile

• 5+ years of external audit experience at a large global accounting firm.
• Experience in Consumer Industry Products and Services, preferably with a mining specialty.
• Member of a recognised professional accounting body (CAANZ, CPA, ACCA, ICAEW).
• Proven track record of leading audit engagements and supervising junior staff.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and other internationally recognised financial reporting standards.
• Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
