Experienced Jumbo Operator

About the role

This residential position is based in the beautiful Otago region of New Zealand. You will join the Macraes Underground Operations team and operate Jumbo development drills to create headings and install ground support in a safe, efficient manner.

Key responsibilities

• Operate Jumbo drills to mine headings and install bolts, mesh, and other ground support to required standards.
• Ensure all headings are mined to the correct size, alignment and gradient.
• Accurately markup faces to mine plans and follow those plans throughout the shift.
• Stop work immediately if safety is compromised.
• Mentor trainee operators and promote a positive team culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years underground mining experience, with at least 5 years operating a Jumbo drill.
• Proven competence in bolt and mesh installation and heading boring, including declines.
• Experience with Sandvik Jumbo drills; spiling and SDA experience is advantageous.
• Background as a loader operator and development charge‑up experience.
• Current full driver’s licence and valid First Aid certificate.
