Events and Security Assistant

About the role
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Events and Security Assistant to join the Property & Events team at Diocesan School for Girls. Reporting to the Events and Security Manager, you will combine high‑quality customer service with safety and security measures to ensure concerts, sporting fixtures, conferences and other events run smoothly and safely.
Key responsibilities
- Manage entry points, verify tickets, identify visitors and conduct security screening to control access to venues and restricted areas.
- Monitor crowd movement, density and pedestrian flow, supporting parking and vehicle access control.
- Patrol event areas, including backstage zones, to identify hazards, unauthorised access or inappropriate behaviour.
- Respond promptly to incidents, accidents or safety concerns, documenting and reporting them in line with procedures.
- Provide directions, assist patrons with seating and facilities, and act as an approachable point of contact during events.
- Support emergency responses such as evacuations, lockdowns and fire drills, acting as a first responder when required.
- Assist with set‑up and dismantling of event equipment, signage, barriers and venue security arrangements.
- Help with internal campus logistics, including delivery and distribution of mail and packages across the school site.
Required profile
- Previous experience in security, events, hospitality or customer service roles.
- A valid security licence is preferred.
- Clean criminal record (required).
- First aid or emergency response training is advantageous.
- Strong observation, situational awareness and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Excellent verbal communication and crowd‑management skills.
- Physical fitness to stand, walk and move for extended periods.
- Reliability and flexibility to work shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Required skills
- Security licence (preferred).
- First aid or emergency response training (advantageous).
