Event Facilitator

About the role
The Events Unit of Auckland Council is seeking an Event Facilitator to support community events across South and West Auckland, primarily based in Manukau. You will guide event organisers through the council permitting process, provide practical advice, and help ensure events are safe, compliant and successful.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate and process event permit applications in line with Auckland Council requirements.
- Provide advice and guidance to community groups, event organisers and stakeholders throughout the planning process.
- Monitor permitted events and assist with compliance‑related matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local boards, community organisations and event‑sector stakeholders.
- Contribute to local event programmes and annual event activity planning.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help deliver consistent event‑facilitation practices.
- Support the delivery of local events and community initiatives when required.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic, motivated and collaborative professional who enjoys working with people.
- Ability to balance customer needs with regulatory requirements.
- Strong organisational skills and sound judgement.
- Experience in events, project coordination, community engagement, hospitality, local government or a related field.
- Capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
