Endodontics Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor

About the role

The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Otago is seeking a qualified endodontist to join its academic staff as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor. This position offers the chance to contribute to the education of dental students while engaging in research and curriculum development within a supportive, collegial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver research‑informed teaching across Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Doctor of Clinical Dentistry programmes.
• Design and update curricula for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
• Conduct and publish high‑quality research individually or as part of a team.
• Participate in departmental, school, division and university service activities.

Required profile

• Registered dentist with the New Zealand Dental Council in the endodontic specialist scope.
• Proven record of internationally peer‑reviewed publications.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Collaborative, collegial work style.
• Full understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and the university’s Māori Strategic Framework.
• Preferred: PhD or equivalent research qualification.
