About the role
Simpson Grierson is seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor to join its nationally recognised employment law team in Auckland. You will work alongside senior partners and a collaborative group of lawyers, providing high‑quality advice and representation across a broad spectrum of employment matters.
Key responsibilities
- Advise national and international corporate clients on employment agreements, policies, restructures, acquisitions and health & safety issues.
- Handle investigations, personal grievances, collective bargaining, union matters and privacy concerns.
- Represent clients in employment tribunals, courts and mediations, managing litigation from inception to resolution.
- Develop and deliver tailored employment law solutions, supporting both advisory and corporate support work.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships across New Zealand.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of post‑qualification experience in employment law.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with lawyers at all levels.
- Team‑player who is keen to develop a career in a high‑profile, nationally‑focused practice.
- General litigators with an interest in specialising in employment law are also welcome.
Required skills
- Employment law expertise, including litigation and advisory work.
- Knowledge of corporate restructures, investigations, personal grievances, collective bargaining and union matters.
- Familiarity with health & safety, privacy and human‑rights legislation.
