Electrical Tutor – Trades Training

About the role

Skills Trades Training is seeking a registered electrician to join its Christchurch campus as an Electrical Tutor. The role focuses on mentoring apprentices, delivering practical electrical training, and supporting learners to achieve industry qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver hands‑on, industry‑relevant electrical training across apprentice block courses and specialised programmes.
• Facilitate classroom and workshop sessions, coach learners through technical concepts and assess their progress.
• Maintain a safe, well‑organised training environment and contribute to continuous improvement of programme delivery.

Required profile

• Registered electrician (NZ Electrical Registration) who enjoys explaining trade skills.
• Experience mentoring apprentices on site and a genuine interest in supporting learners.
• Practical, organised, safety‑focused and confident communicating with a range of students.

Required skills

• NZ Electrical Registration.
• Strong practical experience in the electrical industry.
• Good communication, coaching and organisational abilities.
• Basic proficiency with digital tools such as Microsoft Office.
