Electrical Tutor (5 positions) – Full‑time

About the role

The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is hiring five Electrical Tutors to deliver its Electrical Trades programmes at the Invercargill campus. This permanent, full‑time role combines classroom teaching with practical skills development, preparing students for the region’s growing renewable‑energy and industrial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, industry‑relevant electrical trade education to full‑time and secondary‑tertiary learners.
• Manage teaching and learning outcomes, ensuring students achieve required competencies.
• Provide guidance, support and mentorship to help learners succeed.
• Complete all administrative tasks associated with programme delivery.
• Maintain current vocational currency within the electrical sector.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of curriculum and assessment methods.

Required profile

• Recognised Electrical Trade Qualification.
• Current EWRB Practising Licence.
• Significant industry experience with a commitment to high standards.
• Passion for developing the next generation of electricians.
• Previous teaching experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Willingness to obtain the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) if required.
