Electrical Technician – Marine & Industrial Systems

About the role

Join Babcock's high‑performing technical team in Devonport, Auckland, working on critical marine and industrial electrical systems. You will be involved in installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault finding for complex equipment such as power generation, propulsion and control systems. The role offers hands‑on experience in a safety‑focused defence environment with ongoing training and exposure to advanced technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test and commission electrical and electronic equipment on marine and industrial assets.
• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on power generation and distribution systems.
• Diagnose and resolve faults in complex electrical and electronic systems.
• Support propulsion and control system projects from start‑up to handover.
• Produce accurate technical reports and documentation in line with quality standards.
• Adhere to health, safety and compliance requirements at all times.

Required profile

• National Certificate in Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent.
• Full Electrical Practising Licence (EWRB registration).
• Relevant experience in industrial or marine electrical systems.
• Familiarity with quality assurance standards such as ISO 9001.
• Proactive attitude, strong problem‑solving ability and commitment to quality workmanship.
