Electrical Engineer – Transmission & Distribution

About the role

Egis is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join its Energy team in New Zealand. You will apply your design expertise to complex transmission and distribution projects that support the evolving energy market across Australia and New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed designs for electrical networks, both transmission and distribution.
• Perform engineering calculations, studies and technical assessments for substation development, asset upgrades, replacements and distributed generation connections.
• Create and maintain AutoCAD and Revit models for substation layouts, equipment arrangements and related building services.
• Assist with project scoping, estimating and support ongoing project management and delivery.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team while working autonomously on assigned tasks.

Required profile

• Recent experience in an electrical design role within the energy sector in New Zealand.
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (Washington Accord accredited).
• Legal right to work full‑time in New Zealand and a current full driver’s licence.
• Ability to travel to sites as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Revit.
• Experience using NEARA or similar design tools.
• Experience using PLS‑CADD or comparable software.
