Early Intervention Teacher (Part-time, Dunedin)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Early Intervention Teacher to join our Learning Support team in Dunedin on a permanent part-time basis (0.8 FTE). The role supports children and families across the Otago region, working closely with early childhood centres, schools and whānau.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality learning support aligned with the Ministry’s He Pikorua framework and the Te Whāriki early childhood curriculum.
• Build the capability of parents, teachers and whānau to support children’s learning.
• Assess family needs, co-create and monitor intervention plans, and support transitions into early childhood education and school.
• Collaborate within a trans-disciplinary team to address complex learning and developmental needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) and registration as a teacher.
• Post‑graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention (or ability to obtain within four years).
• Several years of teaching experience with strong knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour.
• Understanding of diverse needs and disabilities in early childhood settings.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with learners, families and teachers.
• Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata‑whenuatanga.
• Full driver’s licence and legal right to work in New Zealand.
• Availability to start in January 2026 and adherence to Public Service Standards.
