About the role
The Early Intervention Teacher will join the Learning Support team in the Botany office, delivering high‑quality learning support aligned with the Ministry’s He Pikorua framework and the Te Whāriki early childhood curriculum. You will work closely with families, teachers and whānau to plan and monitor tailored intervention strategies that promote equitable outcomes for children with additional learning needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide learning support consistent with Ministry practice frameworks and Te Whāriki principles.
- Build capability of parents, teachers and whānau to support children’s learning.
- Collaboratively develop, implement and review individual intervention plans.
- Support children during transition points, such as entry to early childhood education and school.
- Work within a trans‑disciplinary team to address complex learning needs.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) and full registration as a teacher.
- Post‑graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention, or commitment to obtain it within four years.
- Several years of teaching experience with strong knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour.
- Understanding of a range of disabilities and their impact on family life and learning.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse learners, families and teachers.
- Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
- Valid driver’s licence and eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Willingness to adhere to Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
