About the role
We are seeking an Early Intervention Teacher to join our Learning Support team in Christchurch. In this permanent position you will provide high‑quality learning support aligned with the Ministry’s practice framework and early childhood curriculum, helping children and families achieve successful educational outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver learning support consistent with He Pikorua principles, Te Whāriki strands and goals.
- Build capability of parents, teachers and whānau to support children’s learning.
- Assess family needs, co‑plan, implement and monitor intervention plans.
- Support transition points such as entry to early childhood education and school.
- Collaborate within a trans‑disciplinary team for children with complex needs.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) and registration as a teacher.
- Post‑graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention (or ability to obtain within four years).
- Several years of teaching experience with strong knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour.
- Understanding of diverse needs and disabilities in early childhood and family contexts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga principles.
- Full driver’s licence and commitment to Public Service Standards.
