Early Childhood Teacher – 12‑Month Maternity Cover

About the role

Inspired Education’s ACG Penguins Early Learning Centre in Howick is seeking a qualified Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher for a 12‑month maternity cover. The role starts in August 2026 and runs until August 2027 on a part‑time basis (32 hours per week). You will join a forward‑focused, innovative team dedicated to delivering high‑quality education and care.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging early childhood learning experiences.
• Cater to diverse learning needs and abilities of children.
• Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Facilitate play‑based learning with a focus on smooth transition to primary school.
• Participate in wider school activities and initiatives.
• Maintain children’s welfare, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute fresh ideas.

Required profile

• Experience planning and delivering early childhood programmes.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with parents and staff.
• Ability to reflect, evaluate, and adapt teaching practices based on observations and assessments.
• NZ Teacher registration with relevant qualifications (e.g., BA or MBA).
• Passion for early childhood education and commitment to student wellbeing.
