Duty Manager – Leisure Centre

About the role

The Duty Manager will lead day‑to‑day operations at a busy leisure centre in Wellington, Somerset. The focus is on front‑of‑house management, membership sales and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee front‑of‑house activities, including reception, member enquiries and sales.
• Manage health and safety compliance across all facilities.
• Drive customer‑service excellence and resolve member issues promptly.
• Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team in line with company values.
• Control costs and maximise income in all business areas.
• Ensure timely completion of administrative tasks and reporting.

Required profile

• Experience in leisure centre or similar front‑of‑house operations, preferably with sales exposure.
• Strong leadership and team‑building abilities.
• Commitment to high customer‑service standards.
• Excellent verbal, written and IT communication skills.
• Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to obtain National Pool Lifeguard, First Aid at Work and Pool Plant Operator qualifications within a set timescale if not already held.
