Duty Manager – Guest Experience

About the role

The Duty Manager will be at the heart of the guest experience at Larnach Castle, overseeing accommodation and tour reservations while leading front‑of‑house operations. This hands‑on position combines guest‑facing duties with operational oversight to ensure every visitor enjoys an unforgettable stay.

Key responsibilities

• Manage reservations for Lodge, Camp Estate and Stables using the property management system and SiteMinder.
• Process and coordinate Castle and garden tour bookings via FareHarbour.
• Handle guest check‑in/check‑out, billing, special requests and resolve queries professionally.
• Act as Duty Manager, supervising frontline staff and covering for department heads when absent.
• Collaborate with Reservations and Castle Manager to drive occupancy, revenue and upsell opportunities.
• Perform daily banking reconciliation, night audits and end‑of‑day cash‑up.
• Administer travel‑agent and wholesaler invoicing accurately.
• Maintain reservation records to prevent overbooking.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hotel front office or tourism reservations.
• Willingness or ability to obtain an LCQ/Manager's Certificate.
• Calm under pressure with strong problem‑solving instincts.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail and a warm, professional manner.
• Highly organised with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
