Duty Manager – 12‑month Fixed‑Term (Retail)

About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term position is based at the Kmart store in Botany, New Zealand. Working a Tuesday‑Saturday roster from 3:30 pm to midnight, you will lead the store team, ensure smooth daily operations and uphold Kmart’s standards of safety, customer service and results.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a large, diverse store team to achieve sales and service targets.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures and visual merchandising standards.
• Handle customer enquiries and issues promptly, maintaining a customer‑first focus.
• Adapt to changing retail environments and drive continuous improvement.
• Coach and develop team members, fostering strong relationships across the store.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a manager in a big‑box or high‑volume retail environment.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results, inspire teams and manage change.
• Strong commitment to safety, customer focus and Kmart’s core values.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with staff, peers and customers.
