Dispensary Technician

About the role

The Dispensary Technician works full‑time on‑site at Unichem Cashel Pharmacy in Christchurch, supporting pharmacists with the safe preparation and dispensing of medicines. You will interact directly with customers, manage stock, and help maintain a clean, compliant dispensary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing and labeling prescriptions accurately.
• Answer customer queries about prescriptions and medication availability.
• Process sales transactions and handle cash using the point‑of‑sale system.
• Maintain inventory, rotate stock, monitor expiry dates and restock shelves.
• Coordinate with prescribers and handle phone inquiries.
• Ensure the dispensary area meets health, safety and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to dispensing procedures.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy team environment.
• Willingness to learn about medications and pharmacy products.
• Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare retail setting is beneficial.

Required skills

• Point‑of‑sale (POS) system operation.
• Inventory management and stock rotation.
• Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with pharmacy or retail software.
