Director, Capital Markets

About the role

BNZ is seeking a Director for its Capital Markets team to lead the development and execution of public and private debt financing solutions. You will work in an agile, collaborative environment, building long‑term client relationships and driving growth for the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) franchise.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve financial targets for the DCM business through origination, structuring and execution of debt transactions.
• Pitch ideas to issuers/borrowers, secure mandates and lead deal roadshows.
• Promote the DCM franchise internally and externally, driving product development and innovation.
• Collaborate with Institutional Banking, Sales & Trading and other units to secure buy‑in and deliver deals.
• Analyse opportunities, conduct product and account planning with Relationship Managers and global Corporate Financing teams.
• Support Capital Markets strategy, adapt to market conditions and partner with cross‑border teams where applicable.

Required profile

• 7+ years of origination and syndication experience in dynamic market environments.
• Strong commercial acumen, resilience and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Well‑networked with professional relationships across financial markets.
• Sound understanding of financial analysis, credit issues and debt structuring.
• NZFMA accreditation or equivalent global qualification is desirable.
