Die Cast Operator

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Die Cast Operator to join our production team at our Hautapu facility. In this hands‑on position you will set up and run die‑casting machines, manage tooling and ancillary equipment, and ensure that production runs smoothly while meeting strict quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up tooling, inserts and ancillary equipment for each production run.
• Operate die‑casting machines and supporting equipment, loading raw materials and monitoring the process.
• Inspect product quality, adjust machine settings and maintain specifications.
• Prepare tooling for upcoming runs, including cleaning and insert changes.
• Use forklift and/or gantry crane to move tooling, materials and components (where certified).
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (CI & LEAN) across setup, operation and maintenance.
• Follow all health and safety procedures, wear required PPE and report hazards, accidents or near‑misses immediately.

Required profile

• NZQA National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
• Experience with die‑casting or plastic injection moulding (preferred).
• Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Physically fit, able to handle heavy equipment and stand for long periods.
• Flexibility to work occasional night or weekend shifts.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
