Die Cast Operator

About the role

We are looking for a practical, detail‑focused Die Cast Operator to join our production team at our Hautapu facility. You will be responsible for setting up and running die‑casting equipment, ensuring product quality, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up tooling and ancillary equipment for production runs.
• Operate die‑casting machines and supporting equipment.
• Load and monitor raw materials throughout production.
• Monitor product quality and adjust machine settings to maintain specifications.
• Prepare tooling for upcoming runs, including cleaning and insert changes.
• Use forklift and/or gantry crane to move tooling, materials, and components (where certified).
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (CI & LEAN) across setup, operation, and maintenance processes.
• Follow all health and safety procedures, wear required PPE, and report hazards immediately.

Required profile

• NZQA National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
• Experience with die‑casting or plastic injection moulding (preferred).
• Physically fit and capable of handling heavy equipment and working on your feet.
• Ability to self‑manage workload and adapt to changing priorities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
