Development & Design Coordinator

About the role

The Development & Design Coordinator supports both design management and project delivery for community housing projects. Working closely with the Principal Design Lead, Project Managers and Development Managers, you will act as the link between internal teams, external consultants, construction partners and council authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date design and project information across all active projects.
• Coordinate multi‑disciplinary documentation and consultant deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with consent processes, including Resource Consent and Building Consent submissions to Auckland Council.
• Track design variations and support construction‑stage design management.
• Identify and flag potential issues early to keep projects on schedule.

Required profile

• Experience in architectural design, design coordination or project coordination, preferably through consent and construction stages.
• Strong understanding of New Zealand building regulations and council requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and services drawings and specifications.
• Alignment with Kāinga Maha’s mission of sustainable, inclusive community housing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using project management platforms such as Procore, Aconex or Asana.
